Monument at Polemi village, Pafos

Monument at Polemi

It was our first time at Polemi and it was the beginning of a great expeditions day!

Much bigger than we expected, Polemi attracts a lot of people for all sorts of reasons. Our invitation to visit Polemi was from our friends at the Roost retreat.

During our expedition we came across a big square, were a monument  stands tall in a central location of the village.

As we got closer we saw that the monument is dedicated to locals who gave their life during the fights of "Tylliria"in 1964. The fights of "Tylliria" are very well known in Cyprus and have marked the first turbulent years of the newly established republic.
