The stones of Hasanpoulia, Prastio-Kidasi village route, Pafos

The stones of "Hasanpoulia"

A site you can not afford to miss once you are travelling from Prastio village to Kidasi village, are the stones of Hasanpoulia.

Hasanpoulia was a notorious Turkish-Cypriot family of thieves and murderers of the 19th century with so many crimes in their score sheet, that are still very well known today for their action.

The two stones took their name because at that time they used to hide behind the stones and steal or murder travellers who passed by.

The stories are endless. One of them was that at a time the 3 Hasanpoulia brothers entered a Church with their horses and stole the bride in front of her future husband and guests but no one was able to stop them as they were very much afraid of them.

We stopped and gazed at the stones for a while and were fascinated by the stories we learned. We are sure that we will find some more to share in the future...
