Hideout in Agros village, Pitsilia area, Limassol

A Hideout in Agros Village

We have been visiting Agros village since I can remember. It is the village my grandmother was born and many relatives still live there.

Agros is probably the biggest and one of the most important villages of Pitsilia area. A well known village for too many reasons, one being its contribution to the 1955-1959 struggle.

On a Sunday trip, after we finished our lunch, we decided to visited one of the hideouts of Agros that is located in the mountains. After a 20 minute route through the country road we reach a point where we had to leave our car and walk on foot.

We walked up the mountain and reached the hideout. It is located inside the mountain, well hidden, and very small in size. A sign just above informed us about the people who used the hideout and contributed to the struggle.

Just beneath the hideout a trail is found. On that trail Savas Rotsides, died in 1958 after an ambush. He was the last fighter killed during 1955-1959.
