The "Epitaph" at Panagia Salamiotissa
It was a new experience for us this year to witness the Epitaph at the Monastery of Panagia Salamiotissa at Salamiou village in Pafos!
In the small Church of the Monastery which was full of people the Priest and the Nuns performed a beautiful ceremony for us.
When the time came to take the Epitaph outside the Church, the head Nun went ahead holding a large piece of wood and a small stick. With that, she gave a rhythm to the ceremony and the Priest with all the rest followed.
A few minutes later at the entrance of the Church the Epitaph was hold up high until everyone passed beneath and then into the Church again until the ceremony was over.
