Kyparissos tree at Salamiou village, Pafos

Kyparissos tree at Salamiou

One of the highlights of Salamiou village is a place called "Kyparissos" (Cypress tree). At the first Sunday of every October the locals gather at Kyparrisos for the "Palouze" festivity!

It is the season when the grapes are gathered and local delights are being produced and sold. It is a very nice festivity with food, drinks, songs and dancing! A festivity we highly recommend to visit.

There is though another reason why Kyparissos is a special place at Salamiou. A local legend says that the Cypress trees bend their branches once a year and form a throne where Holy Mother seats at one of her yearly celebrations!
